About Science Focus

To complement the Science Research Programme (SRP), a qualitatively different programme known as Science Focus (SF) was launched on 30 May 2000. Unlike the SRP which is more research oriented, SF enables students to appreciate the scientific world through lectures, group discussion and laboratory work. The programme is opened to Junior College students who have an interest in going beyond the Science and Mathematics syllabuses of the 'A' level curriculum.

SF is also jointly organised by the Science Faculty of the National University of Singapore NUS) and the Gifted Education Branch of the Ministry of Education. The programme is sponsored by Shaw Foundation.

In this programme, students can choose to attend electives from the wide array of topics to meet the 12-hour electives requirement. The electives consist of lectures, group discussions, demonstrations and /or workshops.

A Certificate of Participation will be awarded to the student on completion of at least 12 hours of electives.

Classes are conducted in the campus by lecturers/scientists of the National University of Singapore and Research Institutes.

The series of talks would give the students an opportunity to enhance their understanding of major concepts and theories in Science.
